Expanding Borders, a Christian Ministry in central Honduras, received their designation as a 501(c)3 organization in March of 2016.

The primary focus of Expanding Borders is and always will be evangelism to the people in the central region of Honduras.  The ministry provides jobs and job training for the women in central Honduras.  There is also a beauty school to train the women for a job in a local beauty salon.  We are in the process of teaching the ladies to make jewelry; this will provide the women an opportunity to earn money for their families by working.  The money from the sale of the jewelry will help to support the ministry.

Education is an important part of the ministry, at the present time we have teachers working in some of the public schools in Santa Elena, a small village in the mountains.  In Honduras, each village has a school up to sixth grade; the school might have one teacher for all six grades, depending on the number of children in the village.  After sixth grade, the children cannot attend school unless they can pay for transportation to a larger town with a high school.  The closest high school to Santa Elena is an hour away and the cost to ride the bus for each child will be $3.00 per day.  The families also have to provide uniforms and school supplies for the children.  An average salary for an agricultural worker is only $5.00 per day so most children do not attend high school.

We have many children that cannot attend high school because of the lack of money.  For only $40 a month, we can help some of these children get an education. At the present time, 26 children are sponsored and are attending high school in neighboring towns.  We also provide school supplies and medical care for the children.

If you would like to help one of our children, please contact us through this website.  Thank you very much.
