Construction & Home Repair

Upon visiting some of the women’s homes, the members of Expanding Borders quickly realized that many of the women lived in unsafe or unsanitary conditions that were inadequate for good health and raising children safely.  So in 2015 EB expanded its scope to include the building and remodeling of homes of single mothers to make them safer and more comfortable for the families.

These projects have included: adding new outdoor bathrooms and washing areas on houses that previously had none, widening an entry sidewalk and adding a ramp for a family with a disabled child and building a completely new house for a family that had previously depended on family members for their crowded and unsanitary living space.

All of these projects are done in partnership between local builders and teams from the United States who provide funding and labor during week-long mission trips to Honduras.  Those members of the team who do not wish to mix cement or dig holes, also do God’s work on these trips by giving Bible studies for adults and children in the communities where the houses are being built.  In this way, these contributions ensure that the EB is looking after both the material and spiritual growth of its members.
