CHILDRENS HOME

2015 was a big year for Expanding Borders which brought a variety of new undertakings.  Hemi recalls praying at the end of 2014, asking God that 2015 be the year of harvest for all of the hard work the many members have put into it, and indeed He heard her prayers, and it was a year like none other.  In addition to construction, education, and a continuously growing ministry, in 2015 Expanding Borders began a partnership with a beginning ministry called Heritage Hills, based in Mississippi.  This ministry was founded by Misty and Sammy Holcomb, a young couple that felt God’s call to create a home for orphaned children in Latin America.  They chose to locate the home in a small village near to where Expanding Borders is based.

Construction began in October of 2015 and was completed in March 2017.  With Sammy and Misty living in Mississippi full time, Expanding Borders has been able to help the project to progress here in Honduras since the beginning, coordinating construction, attending to the teams from the USA, and the hiring of the two house parents.  Now Expanding Borders has assumed full responsibility for the management of the project in Honduras.

After completion of the home, the Director of Expanding Borders, Hemi Alvarenga, had to work many hours to comply with the rules and regulations of the children’s protective agency in Honduras. At the present time, Expanding Borders is the home of five abandoned children from Honduras.  They live with and are cared for by a mother and father provided by the efforts of Heritage Hills and Expanding Borders. Our plan is to raise the children in a Godly family with a mother and father and provide an education for them as they grow older  Sponsors is the United States provide funds to care for the children.

There are plans to start the construction of another home this summer as God provides the necessary funds for construction and care of the children.
